Woomera

I got the tent set up only just before it bucketed down with rain tonight. The storm chasing my up the highway finally convinced me to pull in here, and I’m glad I did.

It leaves a longer ride ahead tomorrow if I’m going to stay on track for Darwin by Saturday night, but I’ll play that a little by ear. Given the Morning of Three Disasters – its been as good a day as I could have hoped.

I’m very definitely still in rush, rush, rush mode – which feels like a constant state over the last week or so. Or month or so. Hmm… I suspect it’s been my approach to life for decades. I wonder if a few months on the road and in a tent might help to slow that pace down? Would that be a good thing? Perhaps we’ll find out.

I fell asleep when I put the tent up. Wasn’t the plan. So I’ve now had a late dinner –– quite ok for dehydrated bushwalking food! Now I’m back in the tent and turning in for the night. I’ll listen to a few psalms before I completely pull the pin.

I’m 1,200km down the road from home, with zero insight on life or epiphanies. Don’t hold your breath for that score to change any time soon! If I can simply enjoy the ride and the road, that’ll be a worthwhile start. Which makes for two out of two good days so far. What new things will tomorrow bring?
